Welcome To My Blog!

Hi there!  I am Tatiana and I want to welcome you to my blog, Train Up Arrows (Yay!!)

A place where you can come to get fun, educational and faith filled activities for the kids in your life.  To give you a little insight about me, I am first and foremost, a child of God and I aim to glorify Him, in all that I do.  Especially in parenting…thus the creation of this site.

Parenting can seem impossible on MOST days (for me, anyway) but having God’s word as a guide, has come in handy a time or two.    I am married to my college sweetheart of 18 years, Peter, and we have four amazing children (2 boys and 2 girls) ranging from ages 7 down to 2 years old, as well as a 12-year-old German Shepard.  Which as you can imagine, makes our home pretty eventful and chaotic.  We are blessed that we have each other to help us navigate the craziness of this thing called parenting.

I mean, is it just me or is parenting incredibly hard?  I remember having some very dark and trying days as a mother and I wanted to help prevent other mothers from feeling this way.

To help them realize that they are not alone.  That they are not the only ones who may be experiencing moments of despair, frustration or failure.  So, I formed this blog to help share helpful thoughts, ideas, biblical principles and activities on how to Train Up Arrows (i.e., raise Godly children).

It has always been my goal to raise God-honoring, kind, loving, successful, purpose-driven and fiscally responsible children.  It often seems that you have some adults that are fiscally responsible but may not be kind.  Or someone who is kind and compassionate but struggle financially.  Or maybe you have someone who is both kind and have a lot of resources, but they don’t have a relationship with God.  But, it doesn’t have to be one or the other…I believe that you can have it all.  There are several people who are walking in their purpose, have significant financial means, compassionate, are in relationship with the Lord and are living their best lives.  This is my ultimate goal as a parent.

As a result, we really try to ensure that our kiddos are well rounded.

We attempt this by exposing them to various cultures, experiences and things that we should have been taught in school, but never were.  For example:

Entrepreneurship (Multiple Streams of Income)

^

Self-Awareness (Purpose/Passions)

^

Politics (history of our country)

This is the premise of my sites name…Train Up Arrows!

There were two biblical scriptures on parenting that spoke to me and influenced the name.

Proverbs 22:6,

“Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are older, they will not depart from it”.

Psalms 127:4-5 (MSG),

“Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift? The fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth.”

The first scripture reminds me that I need to actually “train” my children.  I can’t just let them fly by the seat of their pants and expect them to turn out in the image of God, without any formal training.

Jill Churchill

“There is no way to be a perfect parent, but a million ways to be a great one”

The second scripture compares our children to arrows in the hands of a warrior.

And much like shooting an arrow takes precision, patience, skill and training, so does parenting.  If we want them to soar and hit their mark like an arrow does, we must put in the same amount of work, if not more, as an archer does to prepare for battle.

These scriptures are the corner stone of my brand and I’m glad you decided to come along for the ride, as we “Train Up Our Arrows”.

I pray that this site helps other parents manage

some of the complexities of parenting by sharing a bit of our chaos, adventures, activities, crafts, faith and beliefs.  And our hope is that it brings families closer together, more patient with one another, and to let them know that while “there is no way to be a perfect parent, but there are a million ways to be a great one” (Jill Churchill)!

I hope to Encourage, Enrich and Engage other parents in Godly discussions and concepts to raise our children according to God’s Word.  I do not think that I am a perfect mother, or that I have all the answers.  I am simply sharing things that have and haven’t worked for our family and I hope that you can share some of your tips and thoughts with me.
